NeXa BBA Connect Doubles Broadband Reach Efficiently With DSL Amplification and  Automation

Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) September 30, 2014

Network Automation, the innovator in Automatic cross connects and Actelis Networks, the leader in high performance broadband over copper, announce a collaborative solution that enables operators to maximize DSL broadband capacity and reach, minimize CapEx and backhaul costs, and provide unprecedented remote management flexibility. The solution provides the most efficient way to upgrade and operate DSL networks that offer high speed broadband while maximizing profitability.

The NeXa BBA Connect solution integrates Actelis’ VDSL2 and ADSL Broadband Amplifier (BBA) cards with Network Automation’s NeXa Automatic cross-connect. NeXa BBA Connect gives network operators the ability to reach more customers with higher service levels more cost effectively, while remotely provisioning, monitoring and testing those services.

Actelis BBAs enhance any existing DSLAM’s (or new remote DSLAM’s) performance, effectively increasing the size of the DSL serving area, reducing backhaul and additional remote DSLAM deployment costs. Integrating the BBAs with the Nexa Connect enables superior remote monitoring, testing, and automated flow through service delivery and service assurance capabilities.

"Actelis is a leading provider of high performance, scalable broadband over copper solutions" said Ove Wedsjö, CEO for Network Automation. “Combining the flexibility of the NeXa Automatic cross connect with Actelis’ s Broadband Amplifiers enables service providers to completely automate the enhancement of broadband capacity and reach without dispatching a truck.”

With the Nexa BBA Connect, service providers can quickly and easily install a pedestal, housing the Network Automation’s NeXa Automatic cross connect and shelves of Actelis’ BBAs in accordance with the anticipated service area “take rate.” Network Operators can then remotely use the NeXa Automatic cross connect functionality, assign the BBA to any loop when needed, monitor and test cable pairs, DSLAM ports, and BBA ports, swap ports or cable pairs, and assess the performance of the VDSL or ADSL based service with or without the BBAs in customer loops.

“The Actelis BBAs provide a more cost effective and rapid way to upgrade DSL networks to offer reliable, high speed broadband to more residential customers ,” said David Dunphy, VP of Marketing for Actelis. “Integrating those BBAs with Network Automation in the Nexa BBA Connect enables operators to automate and streamline operations so they can also minimize TCO and maximize profitability.”

The NeXa BBA Connect fits into several popular models of industry standard Channel pedestals pre-packaged with stubs and equipment to enable rapid deployment. The solution is initially available in a Small 47”x12”x12” version for 150 pair cables and up to 40 BBAs, or a Large 48”x24”x16” version for 300 pair distribution cables and up to 100 BBA ports. The NeXa BBA Connect can be remotely powered over several dedicated power pairs, and the integrated VDSL and/or ADSL BBAs are all line powered. The DSL performance enhancement of the VDSL BBAs is compatible with vectoring and additive to its benefits, giving operators the option to enhance rate and distance using both.

Meeting universal broadband objectives at a fraction of the CapEx and TCO of adding additional remote DSLAMs, the NeXa BBA Connect solution makes meeting these objectives with DSL combined with ease of services deployment and management providing unparalleled network efficiencies and profitability.

The Actelis/Network Automation NeXa BBA Connect solution will be on display and discussed by representatives of both companies at the OSP conference in Baltimore, at the Network Automation booth 804

Enables Service Operators To Offer Triple Play To More Customers And Meet EU Universal Broadband Objectives With Greater Profitability

Prague-Carrier Ethernet World 2013: Actelis Networks unveils its VDSL Broadband Amplifier (VBA), an innovative solution that significantly enhances the performance of any VDSL2 DSLAM/CPE combination from any vendor. A rugged and reliable line-powered mid span device, the VBA can be flexibly placed almost anywhere between the DSLAM and CPE. Complete compatibility with vectoring enables operators to realize all the benefits that vectoring brings, while also benefitting from the very significant additional performance gains contributed by the VBA itself.

Service operators can use the VBA along with vectoring to double the bandwidth and distance of VDSL2-based triple play services. The VBA enables operators to reach many more customers with much more high quality bandwidth, satisfying residential demand for triple play services and generating additional revenues while meeting the EU’s universal broadband objectives more quickly and profitably over copper than could ever be done with a fiber-based solution.

“Actelis turns the existing cable plant into a strategic asset,” said Tuvia Barlev, Executive Chairman and CEO of Actelis. “We’re enabling service operators to take more bandwidth to more places more cost effectively than ever before so that they can reach more customers, grow revenue streams, and offer profitable new services.”

In a related announcement today: The Actelis VBA also significantly enhances VDSL2 performance to make it the preferred solution for many WiFi and small cell backhaul applications and for offering Carrier Ethernet services to SMBs.

Enables Service Operators To Solve Many Mobile Data Backhaul Requirements and Offer Standards-based MEF 2.0 Carrier Ethernet and Cloud Services to SMBs More Profitably

Prague-Carrier Ethernet World 2013: Actelis Networks unveils its VDSL Broadband Amplifier (VBA), an innovative solution for bringing more bandwidth out for WiFi and Small Cell Backhaul and offering Carrier Ethernet services to small and medium businesses (SMBs) more quickly and at a lower total cost of ownership (TCO) to grow more profitable revenues.

The VBA significantly further enhances the performance of Ethernet over Copper, effectively doubling the amount of bandwidth and distance. EFM over Copper solutions such as Actelis’ ML series break down high speed broadband data streams to be sent over multiple pairs at lower speeds, then reassembles the separate streams into a high speed link at the far end. As a result, service operators can offer more high speed bandwidth more reliably and over greater distances using copper than could be done with VDSL2 alone. Actelis’ Ethernet over Copper offers more bandwidth over fewer pairs than competing solutions thanks to superior EFMplus™ transmission and dynamic crosstalk cancellation technologies.

Using the Actelis VBA in conjunction with EFM over Copper significantly further enhances the performance to enable service providers to roll out standards-based MEF 2.0 Carrier Ethernet backhaul with twice the bandwidth of VDSL2-based EFM over Copper to many more WiFi hotspots and small cell base stations… more cost effectively and quickly than can be done with fiber.

By leveraging the existing copper plant, the VBA performs well even with older copper, and can be used to enhance mobile data and roll out Carrier Ethernet services to SMBs more quickly and cost effectively than could ever be done with fiber, and without any of the operational complexities associated with microwave and other wireless solutions.

SMBs are increasingly demanding N x 10 Mbps Carrier Ethernet services as they leverage access to the Cloud to level the competitive playing field by giving them access to the kind of IT expertise, resources, and economies of scale once available only to the largest of companies. Both business and residential mobile customers today are demanding high speed mobile data services wherever they go.

In a related announcement today, the Actelis VBA will significantly enhance VDSL2 for residential broadband triple play services and to help operators meet the EU’s aggressive objectives for broadband services.

FREMONT, Calif., August 8, 2012—Actelis®, The Broadband Acceleration Company™, today announced that TMC, a global, integrated media company, has named the Actelis Broadband Accelerator (BBA) recipient of the 2012 NGN Leadership Award. Presented by its publications, INTERNET TELEPHONY and Next Gen Mobility, the 2012 NGN Leadership Award has recognized the growth, evolution and distinction between the applications and services designed for next-generation networks and the enabling technologies that make them possible.

“Actelis has been recognized for its broadband acceleration technology, which can transform the ability of the telecom industry to deliver universal broadband. The Actelis BBA has demonstrated that meeting the demand for higher bandwidth and offering broadband services where little to none were previously available does not need to be associated with very high cost and several years of delay,” commented Rich Tehrani, CEO at TMC. “We are pleased to honor Actelis for driving the next generation of technologies that will accelerate every carrier’s ability to meet customer demand.”

Although copper networks delivered broadband over DSL to more than 370 million subscribers at the end of 2011, according to Jeff Heynen, directing analyst of broadband access and video at Infonetics Research, there remains a vast digital divide around the world. But since the BBA leverages the existing copper infrastructure, it allows carriers to immediately turn up broadband services to underserved and unserved customers. As a result, Actelis believes that with its field-proven, award-winning BBA carriers can quickly bridge this divide, whether the digital divide is defined as business or residential customers not getting enough bandwidth or not getting any broadband service.

“Leveraging the existing copper-based infrastructure to provide the desired broadband experience at a price point that ensures affordability for the customer and a reasonable ROI for the carriers is a critical requirement,” said Vivek Ragavan, president and CEO of Actelis. “Our broadband acceleration technology is tantamount to a winning formula for carriers. It helps them immediately bridge the digital divide by leveraging their existing infrastructure, minimizing capital and operating costs, reducing customer churn, reaching new customers with broadband services, and generating additional revenue. We’re delighted the Actelis BBA is being quickly adopted by carriers and recognized by industry experts like TMC.”

The NGN Leadership Award winners are featured in Next Gen Mobility‘s September 2012 issue as well as INTERNET TELEPHONY’s website, www.itmag.com, and Next Gen Mobility’s website, www.nextgenmobilitymag.com

Actelis Networks' BBA Enables Carriers to Meet FCC's New Goal of Delivering Increased Broadband Rates for High-speed Internet Services

Actelis reinforces market leadership with new customer wins, driven by industry-leading EFM over copper solutions.

DALLAS, May 18, 2011 - Actelis Networks®, the leading global supplier of Ethernet over copper solutions that is accelerating everything for service providers, today announced at TIA 2011: Inside the Network (Booth 916) that Broadband Accelerators (BBAs) already are helping US service providers deliver high-speed Internet services to residential subscribers who’ve traditionally had little to no access to high-speed Internet services. BBAs allow incumbent carriers like Pioneer Telephone Cooperative, Inc. (PTC), a rural independent operating company, to deliver broadband services with greater coverage area to residential subscribers who typically have been underserved or unserved.

“BBAs have enabled Pioneer to deliver broadband services to a greater number of customers across a geographically challenging serving area,” said Lloyd Green, department manager of new technologies at PTC. “BBAs provide an extremely effective, low-cost solution that has helped Pioneer meet increasing customer demand for broadband, while staying ahead of our competitors by providing the necessary broadband rates, reach and reliability.”

In its sixth annual broadband report to Congress released last July, the FCC updated its definition of broadband to 4Mbps downstream and 1Mbps upstream. With an Actelis BBA, broadband rates can be boosted by as much as 100% on typical loops and more than 400% on long loops, delivering the necessary bandwidth to meet the FCC’s new broadband goals of 4:1. With simple plug-and-play installation, a BBA is typically placed in the middle of the ADSL loop between the central office and the customer premises. Standards-compliant and environmentally hardened, an Actelis BBA is line powered by the existing POTS infrastructure and can be used on any ADSL/ADSL2/ADSL2+ line.

“The Actelis BBA provides incumbent local exchange carriers with a powerful yet easy-to-install, cost-effective broadband solution that delivers all the necessary bandwidth to browse the Web, email and use video-rich applications such as iChat and Skype™,” said Joe Manuele, executive vice president of worldwide sales and customer service. “The fact remains that several residences are located too far from a central office or DSLAM, driving the digital divide and lack of connectivity for tens of millions of Americans. We believe that Actelis’ BBA will revolutionize the industry, giving incumbent service providers of all sizes a solution to close the digital divide and stem the resulting decline in revenue driven by lower customer satisfaction and churn.”
